SAVE  ENERGY

Saving energy can be a quick and simple way to help the environment. By saving energy, fewer fossil fuels have to be burned because less energy needs to be produced. In this way, by consuming less energy, we can help prevent climate change!

Think Small
One sure way to reduce power consumption is to reduce your own individual consumption. Small adjustments can change your quality of life slightly but reduce your power consumption meaningfully. If everyone took this approach, we could significantly reduce the burning of fossil fuels.
Thermostat Efficiency
Set your thermostat effectively to save energy. When no one is present at your home or apartment, the heater or air conditioner doesn’t need to be running. Many new thermostat systems allow you to schedule heating and cooling. If you only regulate the temperature when no one is home, the accumulated amount of energy conserved can be enormous. Your wallet and the environment will thank you.
All the best smart thermostats out there should have the ability to schedule heating and cooling. The google nest thermostat, honeywell smart thermostat, and ecobee smart thermostat all have this valuable ability. The Ecolibrium Project is always looking to provide energy friendly and eco friendly alternatives.
Newer thermostats have the option to schedule A/Cs and heaters. You don't need to get the best smart thermostat, there are many options out there: google nest thermostat, honeywell smart thermostat, etc.
Reducing Regulated Air
By closing doors, you can shut away the air in that room from being conditioned. By keeping the air out of circulation in unused rooms, the heating and cooling systems will not have to work as hard to change the temperature within the rest of the house, which saves energy.
Turning Off Lights
While small, turning off lights in empty rooms can be an effective way to save energy. When you leave a room, try to remember to turn the lights off. If everyone takes a small action, we can make a big difference!
Washing Machine
Many items in the washing machine only require the warm setting, yet too often they are washed on the hot setting. If an item does not require hot water, then use cold or warm water to save energy.
It doesn't matter which types of light bulb you have in your home, turning off lights in empty rooms is a great way to conserve energy. The Ecolibrium Project maintains that any small action to help conserve energy and combat climate change effects counts.
When one wonders how to save energy at home, turning off unused lights is often the first and easiest answer.
Other Home Solutions
Depending on where you live, the outside temperature can be very different from the desired temperature indoors. If this is the case, then reducing heat flow between the inside and outside can drastically reduce the energy required to regulate home temperature. Some measures that can be taken to reduce heat flow are to close windows, have effective insulation, and use a quality sill under the door to prevent airflow.
