WHAT IS A PETITION?
To put it simply, petitions are formally drawn requests usually directed towards government or big corporations. When one signs a petition, he or she is now also requesting the same demands as the petition. It is a quick and easy way to help support a variety of movements. The Ecolibrium Project encourages you to seek out and support petitions for environmental activism.
HOW DOES A PETITION ENGENDER CHANGE?
While petitions do not have any legal power, they succinctly illustrate the public support in favor of a request. The more signatures and attention a petition receives, the larger the possibility of there being change. Examples of successful petitions range from the petition that contributed to the passing of Caylee's Law in 10 states to the petition that saved Rodney Reed from the death penalty just days before his scheduled execution.
WHERE CAN I FIND PETITIONS?
Petitions can be found anywhere. In fact, you have probably seen them outside your local Walmart. However, the most convenient method of accessing petitions are through the Internet. Platforms like Change.org, iPetitions.com, or petitions.whitehouse.gov make it extremely easy to find and make petitions.
